萩原千代は、夭折の天才作曲家カール・フィルチュと、その長兄ヨゼフ・フィルチュ作品の日本における第一人者として注目されるピアニストである。
東京音楽大学卒業後、ルーマニア国立トゥルグムレシュ交響楽団および同国立ディヌ・リパッティ交響楽団などと共演を重ねる。その間、ショパンの愛弟子であるカール・フィルチュ(現ルーマニア領出身)の作品と出会い、フィルチュ研究者であるCsíky Boldizsár氏に師事。2010年と2012年の2回にわたり「カール・フィルチュの世界」と題し、旧東京音楽学校奏楽堂にて日本初演となるリサイタルを開催。知られていなかったフィルチュの作品を紹介し、音楽誌などで高く評価された。
ルーマニア以外でも、フランスで定期的なサロンコンサート、リサイタルで演奏。バロック、古典期の作品を美しい音色と精緻な解釈で演奏するピアニストとして称賛された。2016年6月、日本初盤となるCD「ショパンの愛弟子 若き天才作曲家 カール・フィルチュの世界」を発表。その中の数曲がNHK「クラシックの迷宮」で取り上げられ、放送された。また、このCDに関する情報は日本経済新聞文化面に大きく取り上げられたほか、音楽雑誌にも数多く掲載されている。2017年4月、ビルボード・ジャパン・クラシック・トップ・アルバム2週連続第1位を獲得。2018年、カール・フィルチュの2枚目のCDが、クラシック音楽の月刊誌「レコード芸術」9月号にて準推薦盤に選ばれた。同年9月、クルージュをはじめ多くのルーマニアの都市に招かれ、カール・フィルチュを中心としたプログラムでコンサートツアーを行う。話題性の高いそのプログラムと演奏の音楽性は高く評価され、各都市で絶賛された。
2019年9月、ルーマニアを代表する作曲家ジョルジュ・エネスクも招かれ演奏したシナイアのペレシュ城でのピアノリサイタルに招聘され演奏。ルーマニア国立ディヌ・リパッティ交響楽団と長きにわたり、J.S.バッハのピアノ協奏曲全曲を完奏。2023年5月、ルーマニア・セベシュ(カール・フィルチュ生誕地)にて行われた"Musical Days Carl Filtsch"に招かれリサイタルを開催。カール・フィルチュ研究の功績を称えられ、セベシュ市より"Distinction of Excellence"(特別優秀賞)を授与された。2023年、デビュー20周年記念ピアノリサイタルをルーマニアと日本の各地で開催。同年11月より、ルーマニア・クルージュ=ナポカのバベシュ=ボヤイ大学文学部日本語学科教授Rodica Frentiu氏のJAPANESE CULTURE DAYに、ピアニスト・特別講師として毎年招かれ演奏、講義を行っている(2023年〜2025年)。
2024年5月、第44回ルチアン・ブラガ国際フェスティバルとカール・フィルチュ・ミュージック・デイズに招聘されリサイタルを開催。カール・フィルチュ研究の功績とルチアン・ブラガのプロモーションの功績を称えられ、ルーマニア・セベシュ市より"Honorary Citizen"(名誉市民)の称号を授与された。2025年5月、ルーマニア・セベシュ市と同市にある「ルチアン・ブラガ」文化センターの全面協力のもと、ヨゼフ・フィルチュの世界初盤となる「忘れられたロマン派の光耀 ヨゼフ・フィルチュの世界」を発表。同年11月、CD発表記念コンサートをセベシュとクルージュ=ナポカで開催。さらに2025年5月、在ルーマニア日本国大使館より在外公館長表彰を受けるとともに、Via Transilvanicaの親善大使にも就任した。
その他にもユニークな活動として、「かのやばら園」(鹿児島)での"世界の野ばら91曲全曲演奏"や、同地での瀬戸口藤吉コンサートを開催している。また、ミュージカルや海上自衛隊に嘱託され「第1航空隊隊歌」(2009年)などを作曲している。
2020年より、株式会社山口久乗が製作した久乗おりんを使って独自のスタイルで演奏する「千尊鐘(せんぞんしょう)」の第一人者となる。日本で古くから親しまれている"おりん"とさまざまな楽器を組み合わせた自由な現代音楽を創り出している。寺社、ホール、イベントなどで演奏。2024年11月には千尊鐘初のルーマニアコンサートツアーを開催。各都市で新聞やメディアに取り上げられ、神秘的な音として絶賛された。
2017年11月、神奈川県大和市より大和市文化芸術顕彰 文化芸術未来賞を受賞。2019年6月、フランス国際ピアノコンクール グランプリファイナル アーティスティック・エクセレント部門3位入賞。2023年3月、オンラインコンテスト"岡山杯"入選。同年11月、イギリス国際音楽コンクール ナショナルミュージック部門絶対一等賞受賞。同年12月、エウテルペ音楽賞プロフェッショナルピアノ部門特別賞受賞。2024年1月、国際クラシック音楽スターコンペティション トラディショナルミュージック部門一等賞受賞。同年2月、第4回ルガーノ国際音楽コンクール パーカッション部門一等賞受賞。同年10月、バッハ国際音楽コンクール トラディショナルミュージック部門特別賞付き一等賞受賞。2025年3月、チェンマイ・ヒナステラ国際フェスティバル ピアノ部門優秀賞受賞。

東京音楽大学音楽学部音楽学科器楽専攻ピアノ卒業。ピアノを藤澤弥生、木村徹、尾崎晋也、吉田豊、小林仁、純子マッサーリア、Popescu Carmen、Csíky Boldizsár、Csíky Boldizsár Jr.の各氏に、作曲をCsíky Boldizsár、小林仁の各氏に師事。
Chiyo Hagiwara is a pianist recognized as Japan's foremost authority on the works of Carl Filtsch, a prodigiously talented composer who died young, and his elder brother Josef Filtsch.
After graduating from Tokyo College of Music, she has performed with the Romanian National Târgu Mureș Philharmonic Orchestra and the Romanian National Dinu Lipatti Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. During this period, she discovered the works of Carl Filtsch (born in present-day Romania), a beloved pupil of Chopin, and studied under Filtsch researcher Csíky Boldizsár. In 2010 and 2012, she held recitals titled "The World of Carl Filtsch" at the former Tokyo Music School Sogakudo, marking the Japanese premieres of these works. Her introduction of Filtsch's previously unknown compositions received high acclaim in music journals.
Beyond Romania, she has performed regularly in salon concerts and recitals in France, earning praise as a pianist who interprets Baroque and Classical period works with beautiful tone and refined interpretation. In June 2016, she released Japan's first CD, "The World of Carl Filtsch: Chopin's Beloved Pupil, A Young Genius Composer." Several tracks were featured on NHK's "Classic Labyrinth" program. Information about this CD was prominently featured in the Nikkei newspaper's cultural section and numerous music magazines. In April 2017, it reached No. 1 on Billboard Japan's Classical Top Albums chart for two consecutive weeks. In 2018, her second Carl Filtsch CD was selected as a semi-recommended disc in the September issue of "Record Geijutsu," a monthly classical music magazine. In September of the same year, she was invited to many Romanian cities including Cluj-Napoca for a concert tour centered on Carl Filtsch's works. The highly topical program and musical quality of her performances were highly praised and acclaimed in each city.
In September 2019, she was invited to perform a piano recital at Peleș Castle in Sinaia, where the renowned Romanian composer George Enescu had also performed. She completed the entire cycle of J.S. Bach's piano concertos with the Romanian National Dinu Lipatti Philharmonic Orchestra over an extended period. In May 2023, she was invited to perform a recital at "Musical Days Carl Filtsch" in Sebeș, Romania (Carl Filtsch's birthplace). In recognition of her contributions to Carl Filtsch research, she was awarded the "Distinction of Excellence" by the City of Sebeș. In 2023, she held piano recitals throughout Romania and Japan commemorating her 20th anniversary as a professional pianist. Since November of the same year, she has been invited annually as pianist and special lecturer to perform and lecture at the JAPANESE CULTURE DAY organized by Professor Rodica Frentiu of the Japanese Language Department, Faculty of Letters, Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania (2023-2025).
In May 2024, she was invited to perform a recital at the 44th Lucian Blaga International Festival and Carl Filtsch Music Days. In recognition of her contributions to Carl Filtsch research and promotion of Lucian Blaga, she was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen" by the City of Sebeș, Romania. In May 2025, with the full cooperation of the City of Sebeș and the "Lucian Blaga" Cultural Center in the city, she released "The Radiance of Forgotten Romanticism: The World of Josef Filtsch," the world's first recording of Josef Filtsch's works. In November of the same year, she held CD release commemorative concerts in Sebeș and Cluj-Napoca. Furthermore, in May 2025, she received a commendation from the Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan in Romania and was appointed as a goodwill ambassador for Via Transilvanica.
Among her other unique activities, she has performed "91 Wild Rose Songs from Around the World" at Kanoya Rose Garden (Kagoshima) and held Tokichi Setoguchi concerts in the same location. She has also composed for musicals and was commissioned by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force to compose the "1st Air Squadron Song" (2009).
Since 2020, she has become a pioneer of "Senzonshō," performing in her own unique style using Kyūjō Orin manufactured by Yamaguchi Kyūjō Co., Ltd. She creates free contemporary music combining the traditional Japanese "orin" with various instruments. She performs at temples, shrines, halls, and events. In November 2024, she held her first Romanian concert tour with Senzonshō. It was featured in newspapers and media in each city and acclaimed as a mystical sound.
November 2017: Yamato City Culture and Arts Award - Future Award from Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture. June 2019: 3rd place in the Artistic Excellence Division at the France International Piano Competition Grand Prix Final. March 2023: Selected for the online contest "Okayama Cup." November 2023: Absolute 1st Prize in the National Music Division at the UK International Music Competition. December 2023: Special Prize in the Professional Piano Division at the Euterpe Music Award. January 2024: 1st Prize in the Traditional Music Division at the International Classical Music Star Competition. February 2024: 1st Prize in the Percussion Division at the 4th Lugano International Music Competition. October 2024: 1st Prize with Special Prize in the Traditional Music Division at the Bach International Music Competition. March 2025: Excellence Award in the Piano Division at the Chiang Mai-Ginastera International Festival.
She serves as a special judge for the Tineri Instrumentisti Competition (2025) and as Chief Judge of the Japan Music And Talent Competition (2025, 2026).
